After a visit to Portugal in the 50s, Bolivian entrepreneur Antenor Patiño was so dazzled by the beauty of the country that he decided to acquire a property in Estoril where he would build “Quinta Patiño”. This mansion quickly became a meeting point for the international Jet Set. The marriage between by Antenor and Beatriz Patiño prepared sumptuous parties attended by personalities of the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Zsa Zsa Gabor or Marie Helene and Guy Rothschild.
Tras una visita a Portugal en los años 50 el empresario boliviano Antenor Patiño quedó tan deslumbrado por la belleza del país que decidió adquirir una propiedad en Estoril; allí construiría la “Quinta Patiño”. Esta mansión se convirtió rápidamente en punto de encuentro de la Jet Set internacional. El matrimonio formado por Antenor y Beatriz Patiño preparó suntuosas fiestas a las que asistieron personajes de la talla de Audrey Hepburn, Zsa Zsa Gabor o Maria Helena y Guy Rothschild.
The interiors of the house did not detract from the illustrious visitors at all. The Portuguese emblem par excellence, the tile, was used in Quinta Patiño masterfully. Antenor Patiño sent people to look for 18th-century Portuguese Tile throughout the country to place it as a frieze around the entire house.
Sometime after the death of Antenor Patiño, the property was acquired to build one of the most exclusive property development in the country. But better to keep the focus on the good old days and enjoy the few pictures I have found of its divine original estate.
Los interiores de la casa no desmerecían en absoluto a los ilustres visitantes. El emblema portugués por excelencia, el azulejo, se usó en Quinta Patiño de forma magistral. Antenor Patiño mandó buscar Azulejo portugués del siglo XVIII por todo el país para colocarlo en forma de friso alrededor de prácticamente toda la casa.
Algún tiempo después de la muerte de Antenor Patiño, la propiedad fue adquirida para construir una de las urbanizaciones más exclusivas del país.
